Nominations for the Hillsboro R-III Board of Education HAWK AWARD for Outstanding Service to School and/or Community are now being accepted. Eligibility - Any employee or volunteer of the Hillsboro R-III School District. Persons nominated should have demonstrated outstanding achievement or service to the Hillsboro R-III school district or their community. Nominations - Employees may be nominated by their peers, parents of students and patrons of the district. Hillsboro Junior High is hosting the JCAA Conference Basketball Tournament on Jan 28,28,30,31 here at the JH’s Gene Steighorst Gym. Schools will include Hillsboro, Festus, DeSoto, Windsor, and Perryville. There will be 16 games, with Friday being Championship Night!
Due to impending freezing rain and icy conditions in the forecast, Hillsboro R3 will not be in session on Friday, January 17, 2020. Reminder: there is no school on Monday, January 20 for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

Great time watching the 3rd grade HYBL teams play each other at halftime of the varsity game! In just a few years these guys will be playing for Coach Johnson.
Thanks to our JH/HS players who volunteered to coach at Instructional League today.....Kobe, Josh, Jonah, Payton, Preston, and Chase. It doesn’t look hard in pics, but wrangling 20 kids is a tough day’s work!
JH/6th grade band concert is cancelled for tonight, December 17th. Concert will not be rescheduled.
Due to poor road conditions, the Hillsboro R-III School District will not be in session on Tuesday, December 17, 2019. At this time, there is no change to our school calendar - the last day of school is 05/19/20.

Hillsboro R-3 School District Notice of Filing Dates for 2020 School Board Election - Notice is hereby given to the general public that the opening filing date for school board elections will be Tuesday, December 17, 2019, beginning at 8:00 a.m. Interested parties may file at the Superintendent’s Office during regular business hours. Candidates may file for one of the (3) three year terms. Individuals will file for the term length to serve as a member of the Board of Education. The closing date for filing shall be Tuesday, January 21, 2020, at 5:00 p.m. If the school is closed due to inclement weather the filing office will be closed as well. Adjusted hours during the holiday season will be posted at the Superintendent’s office. To qualify for the position of Board Director, a candidate must be a citizen of the United States and resident taxpayer of the district, who has resided in this state for one year next preceding his/her election or appointment, and who is at least twenty-four (24) years of age; not delinquent in the payment of any state income taxes, personal property taxes, municipal taxes or real property taxes; have not been found guilty of a felony or misdemeanor under the federal laws of the United States of America or a felony under Missouri law or an offense committed in another state that would be considered a felony in Missouri; not registered or required to be registered as a sex offender. Publication of this notice fulfills the requirements of RsMO Section 115.127, Subsection 5.

Another successful year for the 7th Grade Boat Project! Thank you to the YMCA in Festus for being so helpful with their time and facilities. Thanks to all the volunteers who helped cut the cardboard so boats could be made. Our kids, and teachers, really appreciate it.
